Eight Weeks to Build an Investor-Ready Financial Model
The Invest4Impact Finance Accelerator is an intensive eight-week programme designed to help founder teams build the financial foundations of a successful enterprise.
We understand from experience that developing detailed financial forecasts can be a daunting task for many startup teams that do not have a financial background. Working alongside experienced mentors, participants develop a complete five-year financial model covering revenue, expenditure, investment requirements, valuation and funding strategy.
By the end of the programme, every startup will have the financial tools needed to understand its business, communicate with investors and support future growth.
Before the Programme Begins
The programme begins with a remote orientation session where founder teams meet each other, review the programme structure and receive the templates, reading materials and software needed for the following weeks.
Each startup also submits a short description of its business together with any existing financial information so that mentoring can be tailored to its specific needs.
Round One: Financial Foundations
The first three days are delivered in person and combine practical workshops with interactive discussion. Each day features group training sessions from 09:00 – 13:00 and recommended afternoon work. There are additional, optional “Office Hours” available for one-to-one support on Days 1-3 from 15:00 – 18:00.
Day One: Revenue Architecture
Participants learn how to develop a realistic five-year revenue model based on customers, pricing, sales growth and market opportunity. Rather than using generic assumptions, each startup builds its own financial model using its own business data.
Day Two: Expenditure Architecture
The second day focuses on understanding the costs of operating and growing the business. Participants develop expenditure forecasts covering staffing, operations, marketing, administration and capital investment.
Day Three: Capital Investment Planning and Use of Funds
The third day workshop takes a detailed look at the capital expenditure needed, the associated depreciation schedule and the use of funds and disbursement schedule.
Individual Mentoring (In person)
Following the workshops, each startup receives two hours of individual mentoring over the next two days. These sessions allow founder teams to review their assumptions, ask detailed questions and receive practical guidance on developing their financial model.
Independent Development (Remote)
During the following weeks, founder teams continue developing their financial models using the templates and guidance provided during the workshops.
Participants complete a series of practical assignments while applying the concepts directly to their own enterprise. The emphasis is on building and developing tangible documentation required for financial planning, analysis and valuation.
Remote Review
Approximately halfway through the programme, the cohort meets online to review progress. Each startup presents its work, discusses challenges and receives feedback from both mentors and fellow participants. Additional one-to-one mentoring sessions are provided where required.
Round Two: Investment Readiness
The second in-person workshop builds upon the completed financial model and prepares participants for discussions with investors.
Day One: Business Valuation & Capital Structure
Participants learn how startups are valued, how investment affects ownership, and how to develop a practical capitalisation table.
Day Two: Cash Flow & Funding Strategy
This session focuses on cash flow forecasting, funding requirements, investment timing and financial sustainability.
Day Three: Final Financial Review
The programme concludes with a comprehensive review of each startup's financial model, ensuring that all participants leave with a coherent, investor-ready financial planning package.
Final Mentoring (In person)
Each startup receives a further two hours of individual mentoring to finalise its financial model and prepare for investor discussions.
Pitching Day
Selected participants may take part in an optional Pitching Day where they present their enterprise to invited investors, family offices, venture capital firms and other funding organisations.
Participation does not guarantee investment, but provides valuable experience presenting to a professional investment audience.
