Janna Fortmann

Janna Fortmann is an international strategy, enterprise development and sustainable finance expert with more than 35 years of experience advising governments, development finance institutions, commercial banks and private enterprises across Europe, Central Asia, the Middle East and Africa. She has led projects for organisations including the EBRD, World Bank, Asian Development Bank, European Investment Bank, KfW, GIZ, AFD and the Millennium Challenge Corporation, specialising in enterprise development, investment readiness, green finance, organisational transformation and stakeholder engagement.

Janna Fortmann is an internationally recognised consultant specialising in enterprise development, strategic management, sustainable finance, organisational transformation and institutional capacity building. Over a career spanning more than three decades, she has advised governments, international financial institutions, commercial banks and private enterprises on projects that promote investment, innovation, competitiveness and sustainable economic growth across Europe, Central Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

Janna holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from The American College in London and an MBA in Management and Marketing from Webster University London. Throughout her career she has combined strategic consulting, marketing, organisational development and investment expertise to help organisations strengthen their capabilities and implement large-scale transformation programmes.

Her extensive international experience includes leadership roles on projects financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Asian Development Bank (ADB), European Investment Bank (EIB), World Bank, Agence Française de Développement (AFD), KfW, GIZ, the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), EuropeAid and other international development institutions.

 

She has worked in more than forty countries, including Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Türkiye, Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia, Moldova, Egypt, Algeria, Ghana, Kosovo and across the Western Balkans.

Over more than three decades, Janna has worked on international programmes supporting investment facilities with a combined value exceeding €4 billion, advising governments, development finance institutions, commercial banks and private enterprises on strategy, investment, sustainable finance and enterprise development.

Her work has focused on designing and implementing investment and enterprise development programmes, supporting financial institutions in developing innovative financing mechanisms, strengthening ESG and climate finance systems, improving organisational performance, designing investment readiness programmes, developing communication and stakeholder engagement strategies, and building institutional capacity for sustainable growth. She has also led numerous programmes supporting SMEs, women entrepreneurs, green technologies, renewable energy, resource efficiency and climate-related investments.

Before specialising in international development, Janna held senior consulting and business development positions with leading international consulting firms, including Kienbaum Unternehmensberatung, P-E International, Audits & Surveys Europe and BSRIA, advising multinational corporations, governments and public institutions on strategy, marketing, organisational development and business transformation. Her clients have included ABB, Deutsche Telekom, Commerzbank, Shell, IBM, British Telecom and numerous public-sector organisations throughout Europe.

At Invest4Impact, Janna serves as an International Advisor, supporting the design and delivery of enterprise development programmes, investment readiness initiatives and strategic growth methodologies. Her experience working with entrepreneurs, financial institutions, governments and international development organisations brings a unique global perspective to the Invest4Impact Growth Framework and helps ensure that participating founders develop enterprises capable of achieving sustainable, long-term growth.
